How do I zip files online for free?
Open this page, drag your files or a folder onto the box (or use Choose files), give your ZIP a name, and press Create ZIP. Your archive is built in your browser and downloads straight to your device. There is no sign-up and no limit on how many times you can use it.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Files Crate zips everything locally in your browser using your device's own processing. Your files are never uploaded, so even large or private files stay with you.
Can I zip an entire folder?
Yes. On a computer, use the Choose folder button to add a whole folder at once. The folder structure is kept inside the ZIP, so it unzips back exactly the way you organised it.
Is there a limit on file size or number of files?
You can add up to 500 files, around 300 MB in total per ZIP, which covers most everyday needs. There are no accounts, credits, or daily caps. On lower-memory phones the limit is reduced automatically so your browser stays stable.
Will the ZIP open on Windows, Mac, and phones?
Yes. It is a standard ZIP archive that opens with the built-in tools on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, as well as apps like 7-Zip and WinRAR.
What is a ZIP file and why use one?
A ZIP file bundles several files and folders into one compressed archive. It makes files smaller and far easier to email, upload, or store as a single download.
Do I need to install anything or create an account?
No. Files Crate runs in your web browser with nothing to install and no account to create. Open the page and start zipping.
